THE SOUNDS I SAW is an on-going project of mine that explores low light photography. Without the use of flash and in some instances with a standard lens of f/3.5 or higher. My personal choice of lens for club or concert photography is the 50mm f/1.8, however, it limits your distance from the performance. You need to get in close. Paired with a modern DSLR, images at high ISOs are clean and sharp. A tele-zoom is often a better choice for shooting from a distance without disrupting the view for people seated close to the stage. Stage lighting at the venue will often influence the outcome of the final images. It can make or break the final images.
